ranting as usualMore than halfway there, and didn't feel the need to rant... the thing is, I watched it before, accidentally, on TV3. Didn't know things that well back then, but the main characters are easy to get to know, more or less.
Now there's that dialogue between Reese and Carter again, about being closest to death. (Good one about 30 stitches, by the way.) When I watched it the first time, I took it all in stride. Like yeah, it's right, because what did I know about the beginning of the story? But this time, John says it was Carter who changed his mind about having an acute case of lead poisoning, and I'm like "What?" Carter? The hell she did.
But then, there's that bit... after talking to both of them - Carter and Finch - and giving both a slip, John did find money somewhere and did make himself presentable and more like a human being. Before changing his mind about working with Finch.
So, perhaps, an aspect was there. And it's such a moment when, perhaps, John wants to believe that himself. They can both end up dead. They've got to try and seize the day.
Besides, there's an interesting piece of fanfiction right now that says John's attraction to Carter is a displacement. Guess for who.
Also, I did know, from that very same episode, that Carter doesn't get to die before John kisses her, but now that he did she just might.
And, bloody hell, Finch alone with Root. Finch has a backbone of steel, of course, but her words still must hurt like hell.
I like John's solution though. Much better than being barred in a room where they'll eventually use gas grenades, and then what?
And she did die.
Why is the Machine still calling? Didn't she see?
